I shoot FS7M2 4K footage and edit in Final Cut Pro 7. It hangs at full resolution, stutters at 1/2 resolution, plays fine at 1/4 and 1/8. I occasionally get audio & video clock out of sync errors and hitting the spacebar to stop has no immediate effect. How tosolve this problem? – Stuart Lewallen
FS7M2 ( FS7 II or FS7M2K) dramatically improves the experience of shooting with Sony’s ultimate documentary camcorder and is simply one of the world’s most versatile Super 35mm camcorders. Shoot and move. Handheld, shoulder-mount or suspended from a gimbal. FS7 II delivers the spectacular imagery you expect from Sony. Long-form projects shine with Sony’s XAVC L recording system. Record luxurious QFHD at 59.94p/50p at a maximum bit rate of 150Mbps. Or take advantage of the superior grayscale rendition of 10-bit High Definition, plus the uncompromised detail of 4:2:2 colour – all at budget-friendly data rates of 50, 35 or even 25Mbps in HD mode.
For the last few years, Sony has been shipping cameras with a new format, XAVC. XAVC generally uses the MXF wrapper, with the audio and video in a single file. We can get 4K footage by useing XAVC L and XAVC I mode. How to import and edit Sony FS7M2 4K recordings in Final Cut Pro smoothly and without rendering? The idea of re-wrapping in post is to change the way the file format is written in the camera, to a more common container used in editing, like Apple ProRes. The codec still stays the same with your file: there is no transcoding but most Mac programs will be able to “understand” that .mov file. Acrok Video Converter Ultimat is your best choice to re-wrapping your Sony FS7M2 ( FS7 II or FS7M2K) recorded .mxf fies to Final Cut Pro (FCP X, FCP 7, FCP 6) native editing codec and format. It’s the top XAVC to ProRes Converter, MXF Video Converter, 4K Video Converter and Blu-ray ripping software.
